Uc Buyukler ve Kadrolari
Her zaman Fenerbahce'nin kadrosunun, rakiplerine gore cok daha ustun oldugunu, ligin tozunu rahatlikla attirmasi gerektigini soyluyorum ama insanlar inanmiyor ve bana katilmiyor. Fenerbahce'nin iki senedir elinde bulunan kadro Senol Gunes'in, Schuster'in veya Rijkaard'in elinde olsa su an cok farkli yerlerde olurduk eminim.
Kale
Volkan Demirel-Ufuk-Aykut Ercetin-Cenk Gonen- Hakan Arikan- Rustu Recber arasinda Besiktas'in daha derin bir rotasyonu oldugu belli ancak Volkan Demirel'in hepsinden cok daha tecrubeli ve kaliteli oldugunda umarim herkes hemfikirdir. Burada tartisma bile kabul etmiyorum.
Avantaj: Fenerbahce
Bekler
Sag beklere bakinca Gokhan Gonul bence Turkiye'nin en iyisidir. Sonra da Sabri Sarioglu gelir. Sabri'nin gelisimine Rijkaard'in katkisi tartisilmaz.
Stoperler
Lugano-Yobo ikilisi saglam oldugu surece, digerleriyle karsilastirilmaz bile.
Ortasaha gobek
Turkiye ligi'nden ortasaha gobegi olustursam ben Ernst-Emre ikilsinden olustururum. Onlerine de Guti'yi koyarim. Ernst-Guti-Necip-Aurelio-Fink rotasyonuyla Besiktas burada one cikiyor. Emre Belozoglu'ndan zerre haz etmesem de kendisi Turkiye'nin en iyi ortasaha oyuncusudur benim gozumde. Ernst de cok ozel bir adam. Guti zaten efsane. Lorik Cana Ernst'in yedegi olur.
Sola Arda, Saga Quaresma'yi aliyorum karmama.
Avantaj: Besiktas-Galatasaray
Forvet
Mamadou Niang benim direkt birinci tercihim.
Avantaj: Fenerbahce
Karma ve Sonuc
Uc buyukler karmamiz soyle gozukuyor:
Volkan
Gokhan Lugano Yobo Santos
Ernst
Emre
Arda Guti Quaresma
Niang
O yuzden burada bu kadroyu degerlendirip basarili olmak tamamen Aykut Kocaman'in elinde.

Fenerbahce-Galatasaray, Rijkaard, Hagi vs.
Cok defa yazdim bu sezon futboldan cok sogudugumu, Fenerbahce maclarini izlemedigimi, takimin pek umurumda olmadigini. Ama takim yavas yavas oturmaya basladi, Niang yardiriyor, diger yeni yabancilar yavas yavas form tutmaya basliyor, bol gol atip farkli galibiyetler aliyoruz. Hersey guzel gorunuyor simdilik. Yarinki maci da her beraber izleyecegiz bakalim icim rahat sayilir aslinda mac icin.
Galatasaray'i yenemememiz cok buyuk bir mucize olur. Yani, hani insanlar tarihi farktan falan bahsediyor, zannetmiyorum oyle olacagini, ozellikle yeni hoca degisikliyle, ama yine de rahat 3-4 gollu bir galibiyetle kazanacagimizi dusunuyorum. Yine bir 4-1'lik skor olabilir. Rijkaard kalsaydi tarihi fark tahmini yapardim, cunku Galatasarayli futbolcular, kendisini gondermek icin herseyi yapiyorlardi, ozellikle Servet Cetin sahtekari.
Galatasaray'in toparlanacagini ve Fenerbahce'nin arkasinda ikinci sirada yer alacagini dusunuyorum. Cunku Fenerbahce'nin bu kadrosuyla sampiyon olamamasi buyuk basarisizlik olur.

The Hoya Article: Rooney’s Greed Driving His Impending Transfer
http://www.thehoya.com/sports/Rooneys-Greed-Driving-His-Impending-Transfer-10221023/
The world of football was rocked last week by Wayne Rooney’s announced desire to leave Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson, Rooney, Rooney’s agent, and former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo have all chimed in on the decision. Now, it’s Gemini’s turn to give our take on the news and what it means for global soccer.
Rooney has explained his main reason for wanting to leave as a lack of “assurances about the future squad” by the chief executive of Manchester United, David Gill. And though Rooney has pointed to a limited supply of world-class footballers on the team as a contributing factor to his decision, the move is really about money.
Rooney carried the club last season after the departure of Ronaldo and was expected to become the cornerstone around which a new and powerful Manchester United team would be built. The financial woes of the club, however, have prevented Ferguson from acquiring as many star players as expected. Surprisingly, though, the fans, the owners and the footballers themselves have been calm about the lack of star power, and despite a less than successful start to the season, United remains one of the most powerful teams in the world.
These reasons still do not justify Rooney’s actions nor the way he expressed his desire to leave; Ronaldo, who was not as loved by the Manchester United fans as Rooney and who had always indicated his desire to leave the club, played spectacularly and acted professionally for a season before he finally left for Real Madrid.
So, why does Rooney want to leave the club of which he is the hero? What has changed over the last couple of years that led Rooney to make this decision? Is it really Manchester City’s interest and offer for Rooney that caused this decision?
After being bought by Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, Manchester City has gone on a spending spree, putting more than 250 million euros into two transfer seasons, bringing high-caliber players like Robinho, Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor and David Silva to the city of Manchester. By also paying ridiculously higher wages to the players than the market average, Manchester City has been able to attract top-quality players. They pay around 500 million pounds on player wages, and thanks to this excess, even players like James Milner, Yaya Toure and Joleon Lescott — who would be considered mediocre at a top-level European stage — are topping the highest-earning players list.
As one of the best forwards and top goalscorers in the world, Wayne Rooney has every right to ask for a move from Manchester United, where he is paid almost the same amount as a Manchester City bench player. He knows for a fact that he can get paid much more if he makes a move to Manchester City or Real Madrid, and it is a known fact that both of these clubs have been showing interest in him. Manchester United, although also owned by foreign investors, does not have the financial strength Manchester City possesses and cannot offer Rooney — already the highest-paid player on United — any more money than they already have.
So, what does this all mean for the soccer world?
Foreign investment has been a huge factor in the transfer market in recent years, resulting in increased transfer fees and wages, making it harder for clubs to keep their players and for players to stay loyal to their clubs. In today’s highly commercial and industrialized soccer world, loyalty is rarely seen. That is why Manchester United fans are full of hatred toward Wayne Rooney, as were Barcelona fans toward Luis Figo when he moved to Real Madrid in 2000 and Inter Milan fans when Zlatan Ibrahimovic moved to AC Milan this summer.
So, what can be done about this? How can we stop the waste of millions of euros? What is the limit to the ever-increasing number of zeros in player contracts? We have a simple solution: institute a salary cap. If UEFA enforces a salary cap, deciding on a maximum amount of money a European club can pay to their players, it can help to solve this problem.
Without a doubt, the fans want success. They want wins and trophies, and most of the time money can bring that. But what fans want most is loyalty. Young Manchester United fans want Wayne Rooney to be their idol, they want him to retire in a Red Devils jersey like Ryan Giggs or Paul Scholes. No matter how amazing Wayne Rooney is or how he led United to success, he will never be loved and respected by Manchester United fans as much as Giggs or Scholes, who have dedicated their entire lives to Manchester United.
UEFA has a responsibility to make sure young fans have idols to look up to, and the ability to do that lies in the organization’s control of club finances.

Guiza, Fenerbahce, Taraftar, Yorumcular, Toplum
Adam geldi, havaalanlarinda karsilandi, her gordukleri yerde "okcu" yaptirdilar, adam iki gol atti, etrafa kostu etti, herkes "Guizaaaaa, guizaaaa" diye bagirdi.
Formda degildi, zorla her mac oynatildi, her mac gol atmasi beklendi. Her golcunun formsuz donemleri olurken Guiza'nin her zaman cikip goller atmasi istendi. O atamadikca, taraftar "Semih, Semih" diye bagirdi.

Uzun zamandir yazmak istiyordum firsat olmadi, anca zaman bulabildim.
O stadda top her Mesut'un ayagina geldiginde isliklayan, stadda, televizyon karsisinda agzindan salyalar akarak Mesut'a kufur edenlerle ayni milliyetten olduguma, ayni kulturu paylastigima, ayni havayi soluduguma inanamiyorum.
He tabi secseydi ne olurdu?

- Aziz Yildirim'in, Volkan'in dugunune Ali Sen'in gelmemesini istemesi, onu listeden cikartmasi, ustune ustluk piskinlik yapip resmi siteden kendini savunmasi cidden ona bile yakismadi, kulubu kendinin ciftligi zannetmeye devam.
- Los Angeles'a gittim bu haftasonu, baya iyiydi, cok guzel sehir, Sinan'in da evi, arabasi falan 10 numara, baya gezdik. Kizlar baya iyi Los Angeles'ta bu arada.
- Radyo sovumuz devam, salilari Turkiye saatiyle 19-21 arasi, Amerika saatiyle 12-14 arasi, zamaniniz varsa georgetownradio.com'dan dinleyin, arayin vs.
- Fifa 11 aldim, oynadim, baya guzel, Fifa 10'dan pek bir farki yok sadece gecen oyundaki hatalari, eksiklikleri gidermisler, mukemmele daha cok yaklasmis.

Playlist of the Week 6
In the previous post, I posted the songs we played on the radio show with Ceyda, but they are not all the songs I listen to during the week, because Ceyda doesn't let me play all the songs I like. So, this is the playlist of this week:
Belle and Sebastian- Another Sunny Day
I can't decide how I feel when I listen to this song. Sometimes I feel really happy because it has a really energetic feel to it, but again in the end, it makes me kind of sad every time. No matter how it makes you feel, it's a great tune.
Smashing Pumpkins- Tonight, Tonight
One of those songs that you got to let it grow on you. You will appreciate the musical beauty of it with time.
Travis- Luv
One of Travis' better songs. It's a pure, sad love song. Especially more meaningful these days with the lines; "and distance tells you that distance must come between love"
Bonnie Tyler- It's a Heartache
I love the sound of this song.
Rehyn- Fortune's Fool
I discovered Rehyn, when I was just on iTunes randomly, but I gave it a try and I really liked how she sounds. It might be very "pop", but she has a really strong voice, and she's young. You should look into her, she has only one debut album.

Greatest of Our Time
This is our third article with Mike for The Hoya. This issue, we discussed who the greatest player of our generation is.
http://www.thehoya.com/sports/Greatest-of-Our-Time-9281015-2/
Every talented, promising young player dubbed the next Maradona, Pele or Zico when young, but only a few come close. As the Gemini duo, it is our job to debunk the impostors and discuss the true contenders for the greatest soccer player of our generation.
Ronaldo Luís Nazario de Lima, “Il Fenomeno” or “Fat Ronaldo” as he is more casually known, was one of the most talented players of this generation. He and Zinedine Zidane are the only players to win the prestigious FIFA world player of the year three times. Ronaldo’s efficiency in front of goal and ability to score no matter where he got the ball on the field made him a threat at all times, as well as enormously exciting to watch. Ronaldo always kept spectators on the edges of their seats with his scintillating runs, amazing skill and ball control. Whenever Ronaldo played, it wasn’t an issue of whether he would score, but rather when and how he would score.
Ronaldo’s efficiency in front of goal is underscored by the 62 goals he scored in 97 international appearances. His talent is evident in his wide range of admirers; he made it onto Brazilian legend Pele’s list of 100 greatest players of all time, and won the Goal.com award for player of the decade.
Ronaldinho — meaning “little Ronaldo” to distinguish him from his idol Ronaldo Rodrigues de Jesus — was by far the most exciting player to grace the soccer world in our lifetime. Ronaldinho’s career was characterized by Samba celebrations, Joga Bonito style of play and infectious enthusiasm on the field. This was indeed representative of the player who first caught the media’s attention at the age of 13, scoring all 23 goals in a 23-0 rout of a local team in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He caught the eye of the world with his brilliant display in the 2002 World Cup, where he helped Brazil dump favorites England out of the quarterfinals with a free kick from far outside the penalty box to beat David Seaman.
This two-time FIFA world player of the year won the hearts of all soccer lovers with his no-look passes, pinpoint free kicks, signature hocus-pocus skill moves and the ease with which he created confusion for opposing defenders. He was the perfect blend of a tactically disciplined midfielder who could take players on easily and could shoot from far out.
Although only 29, Iker Casillas has played more than 500 games for Real Madrid and more than 100 games for the Spanish national team, putting him on pace to become the most capped player in history for both club and country. As captain of both Real Madrid and Spain, he has won all possible trophies on both club and national level. What is more impressive is that he has been starting for Real Madrid and Spain since 2000, missing only five games in the Spanish League in the last eight seasons, winning every individual award a goalkeeper can in the process. He is definitely the goalkeeper of the decade because of his consistency and influential leadership.
Italy has always been known to produce strong defenders. Notable players include Giacinto Facchetti, Franco Baresi and Paolo Maldini. However, one man’s accomplishments have overshadowed those of all other great players’: Fabio Cannavaro. The charismatic captain guided Italy to a World Cup win in 2006 and was honored with the player of the year award by both FIFA and UEFA that same year. His influence and contribution to the game is made even more significant by virtue of the fact that he is the only defender in the history of the game to win those awards. For most defenders, Cannavaro’s height (5-foot-9) would be a major disadvantage, but the Italian had the skill to overcome it with his agility, quickness and determination. He is the most capped Italian player in history and was part of one of the most famous defensive duos in modern soccer with Alessandro Nesta. With his determination, leadership and winning attitude, he will always be remembered as one of the best players of our generation, as well as one of the best defenders to have ever played the game.
Arguments can be made for many more players to be the player of our generation, but none of them have stronger basis for argument than the magnificent Zinedine Zidane. His outstanding career earned him three FIFA world player of the year awards, two World Cup finals and three Champions League finals, setting him above all other players. In the past 12 years, France has failed to win a World Cup game without Zizou, leading to group stage eliminations in 2002 and 2010. This is a clear indication that Zidane was behind France’s advance to the World Cup finals in 1998 and 2006 — he scored during both games — even helping France win in 1998. He is best known for his high soccer IQ, vision and great passing and dribbling skills. He is one of the smartest players the soccer world has ever seen, and that, combined with his determination and ambition to win, creates the best player of our generation.
Zinedine Yazid Zidane, a Marseillais of Algerian descent who also managed to change the perception of immigrants by the French people. It is a shame how the greatest player of our generation will be remembered in this country: for his infamous head-butt of Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup final. No matter what others remember him for, soccer fan’s will remember the greatest player of our generation for his two headers against Brazil in the World Cup final in 1998 and his amazing volley against Leverkusen in the Champions League final in 2002.

Catfish
After hearing the hype it created the first days it was out, I decided to check it out. Everyone who has seen it was really impressed and the trailer looked sick.
It is basically a documentary about this young photographer from New York, starting a relationship with a girl who he has only seen through Facebook, and getting close to her family. But when the truth starts to come out, it is really fascinating. I did not like it as much as everyone else did because I had my expectations too high, but it was still really interesting. The influence of social media and specifically Facebook, and how dangerous it can be is successfully demonstrated. It is definitely a must-see film, the fact that it is actually real makes it cooler. I can't give much detail since it would spoil the entire movie for you. So go see it, but just don't get your hopes too high up.

Update
- Ben Affleck'li The Town'u izledim gecen gun, fena degildi, bir suc/aksiyon filmine gore basariliydi. Ondan once de Guy Pearce'li Avustralya yapimi Animal Kingdom'a gitmistim. O da fena degildi, guzeldi. Firsat bulursaniz, izleyin derim.

Playlist of the Week 5
Bright Eyes- Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh
Conor Oberst is a lyrical genius, he is definitely one of the best modern songwriters. This is one of those songs which takes you somewhere far away even the first time you listen to. You feel his pain and his emotions for Haligh throughout the song.
Saybia- The Second You Sleep
One of those songs where you can feel how the singer feels when he sings it. So emotional and sad, makes you want to pour a glass of whiskey and just drink up when the vocal screams "I stay to watch you fade away".
Badly Drawn Boy- A Minor Incident
A simple, cute, love song.
Jason Mraz- Plane
I can't believe I haven't discovered this song earlier. I have been listening to it a lot since I discovered and it's a depressing, poetic song combined with Jason Mraz's great singing voice and style.
Pernice Brothers- Chicken Wire
Pernice Brothers is a little known, good band who created this sad ballad is worth listening to.

Joga Bonito: The Beautiful Game Needs a Makeover
Second article on The Hoya:
http://www.thehoya.com/sports/Joga-Bonito-The-Beautiful-Game-Needs-a-Makeover-9171025/
You can have the top stars to bring the attention. You can have the best stadium. You can have the best facilities. You can have the most beautiful project in terms of marketing and all this kind of thing. But if you don’t win ... All the work these people are doing is forgotten.”
Real Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho’s philosophy of the game is representative of the movement in soccer from ideal and attractive play (joga bonito, or beautiful game), to a more realistic approach that prioritizes winning by defending.
His philosophy was especially evident in the extremely boring Champions League quarterfinal in which Inter Milan packed all their players in their half and defended desperately against waves of Barcelona attacks until they won.
Other successful teams such as Chelsea, Spain and Arsenal are proud proponents of the joga bonito. These teams focus not so much on defending as box-to-box midfielders and wingers who can switch the play from attack to defense and are good with long-range shots in a 4-5-1 formation. This scheme also allows for the striker, usually employed alone up front, to swap with the midfielders directly behind him and thus create a more dynamic flow of attack.
Current World Cup champion Spain successfully utilized this style of play and essentially defended their way into the finals, combining their best attributes of resolute defending, a slick passing midfield and the clinical finishing of David Villa.
This style of play is efficient and realistic, but from the spectators’ standpoint the lack of scoring makes the game less interesting to watch. In order to adapt to the changing styles and dynamics of soccer, certain rules could be revised to make the game more modern and appealing.
It’s a big concern for soccer fans to see the beautiful game taking a turn for the worse. So, as the Gemini duo, we have ideas for changing some rules in order to make sure the best soccer starts to win again.
To ensure that the game is fast-paced and flowing, the primary aim should be to increase the time the ball is in play. That can be achieved through changes in the offside and the foul rules, eliminating the unnecessary and excessive stoppage time to the game.
These changes will also favor teams who want to play quality, attractive soccer and are intended to increase the number of scoring chances to create a more exciting 90 minutes.
Although we believe that the offside rule is an essential part of the game, some changes to this rule could be implemented. For instance, eliminating the offside rule for passes from one’s own half would result in a faster game. Such a scenario would require that when an attacking player receives the ball behind the defensive line in a pass from his own half, offside should not be called. This will encourage teams to employ long passes and thereby have more attacking players up front. Also, the elimination of the offside rule when the ball is passed with one’s head would result in fewer offside calls, more in-play time and more goals without changing the nature of the game.
To minimize games in which teams only defend in an attempt to earn a draw — the aforementioned Barca-Inter matchup comes to mind — a rule should be set up to ensure that both teams have at least one player on the opposing half of the field at all times. This way, we would not allow all 11 players to be on their own half defending the goal. This would tremendously increase the chances of having more goals in a game.
With the new dynamics and playing style of recent years, we have also begun to see a substantial increase in the number of fouls committed in each game. Watching the Netherlands commit 28 fouls in the World Cup final against Spain brought about the realization that the rules need to be amended. Although soccer is a physical sport, fouling in order to slow down and stop the game takes away from the flow and pace of the sport. The remedy for this is the rule of an automatic yellow card after a team’s 10th foul. So, every player committing a foul after the team’s 10th foul would receive an automatic yellow card regardless of the what foul is. This would prevent games like the World Cup final, which was criticized for being boring due to the number of stops and fouls.

Dayanamiyorum
1- Kayseri deplasmanina 18 kisilik kadroya nasil yedek stoper almadan gidilir?

Hayat

Playlist of the Week 4
Fiona Apple- Across the Universe
I'm not usually a big fan of covers, but I believe that the Fiona Apple version of the song is so much better than the Beatles version. Such a great song by the Beatles, beautifully covered by Fiona Apple.
Tea Party- Heaven Coming Down
Although it is a pretty old song, I recently discovered it and I have been singing it all the time for the past week, listen to it when it feels like "heaven's coming down".
Queen- Love of My Life
I'm not a big Queen fan, but I just love this song, it's so simple, and it just hurts you when you listen to it. It never gets old and you can listen to it over and over again and you would still get the same feelings as you did the first time you listened to it.
Three Doors Down- Let Me Be Myself
I know there are a lot of people who feel like Three Doors Down in this song. Sometimes when you are with someone, you just can't be yourself, and in this song, we listen to the desire to be himself again and "take back all these times he gave into her".
The Everybodyfields- Lonley Anywhere
I don't know any other song from The Everybodyfields but this song definitely needs to be heard.

I don't know any other song from The Everybodyfields but this song definitely needs to be heard.

Icimiz Yaniyor Stad Yansa Ne Olur
Artik uzun yazi yazacak "YETER ULAN" diye bagiracak gucum bile kalmadi.

UEFA Champions League 2010-2011 Preview by Michael Appau and Cem Yolbulan
As I said before, me and Mike are writing a column in the school newspaper, The Hoya, and this is this week's article that was published in the newspaper this week. The first four groups' analysis was done by Mike and I took over from Group E to H.

The Special One, Jose Mourinho, declared that only Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter, AC Milan, Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have a chance of winning the Champions League, but here is a preview of all the groups to help you decide for yourself and note the games that can’t be missed. The top two teams proceed to the knockout stage, while the third spot continues its European adventure in the UEFA Europa League.
Group A: Internazionale — Werder Bremen — Tottenham Hotspur — FC Twente... Last year’s title holder Inter has a lot to prove under new coach Rafa Benitez and will certainly have a very difficult time retaining the title, especially with a very energetic and ambitious Tottenham side. Look for them to be a surprise team that will go far in this tournament. Tab Tottenham to win the group, with Bremen and Inter vying for second and third place, respectively. Expect Dutch champions Twente to finish in fourth.
Group B: Olympique Lyonnais — Benfica — FC Schalke 04 — Hapoel Tel Aviv... This year’s competition is another great chance to witness the acrobatics of Lyon’s Hugo Lloris, who single-handedly carried the team in last season’s tournament. The acquisition of Yoann Gourcuff should bolster the team, but there will be competition for the group leaders from Portuguese champions Benfica, led by Argentine goal poacher Saviola and fellow striker and World Cup standout Oscar Cardozo. Also, Bundesliga runner-up Schalke will compete for the top spot, headlined by perennial Champions League goal scorer Raul. Hapoel Tel Aviv would like to impress in their Champions League debut, but their lack of experience will be their undoing.
Group C: Manchester United — Valencia — Rangers — Bursaspor... This group should be the most exciting group of the tournament with United’s history of underperforming against inferior competition (Bursaspor) and Scottish teams. Valencia has been significantly weakened by the departure of David Villa and David Silva and will struggle to claim a third spot behind either Rangers or Bursaspor. The real competition for the top spot will be between Man U and Rangers. This could be managers Sir Alex Ferguson and Walter Smith’s final showdown before either of the two close friends retire. Even more incendiary is Bursaspor’s green and white hoops away jerseys, which they plan to wear away against Rangers.
Group D: Barcelona — Panathinaikos — FC København — FC Rubin Kazan… Barcelona has always been the team to beat, and this season is no different, as the Spanish champions have further strengthened their squad with the acquisitions of David Villa and Javier Mascherano. Barca should, however, be cautious against lowly Rubin Kazan, who clipped them last year. Barring any surprising runs from the Russian champions, Barcelona will top the group and qualify, with the Greek champions Panathinaikos finishing in second.
Group E: Bayern Munich — AS Roma — FC Basel — CFR Cluj… This should be an easy draw for Bayern and Roma as they will not struggle to take the first two spots. The Swiss and Romanian champions will fight for the third spot to continue in the Europa Cup, but with more experience and quality, FC Basel definitely has the edge over Cluj. Cluj will look for a shocking home win or a couple of points in this group, and they will most likely do it against Basel at home. Regardless, Roma and Bayern should have easy paths to the knockout stage.
Group F: Chelsea — Olympique de Marseille — Spartak Moscow — MSK Zilina… Chelsea and Marseille supporters are probably happy after this draw. Spartak will be tough to beat, especially when they are playing at home in the cold weather, and on an icy, artificial pitch. However, they are not strong enough to challenge English and French giants on their way to the next round. Slovakian debutants Zilina will just be happy to feel the Champions League atmosphere.
Group G: AC Milan — Real Madrid — Ajax Amsterdam — AJ Auxerre… Probably the toughest group in this draw, we expect to watch the best soccer in this group stage. Get ready for some attractive soccer. Ajax’s games will be especially fun to watch. Auxerre of France is a tough team even though they enter with a low seed, so it makes this group even more competitive. Real Madrid should win the group, followed by Milan with Ajax winning the Europa League spot.
Group H: Arsenal — FC Shakhtar Donetsk — SC Braga — Partizan Belgrade… Despite their decline during the past couple of years, English powerhouse Arsenal should be more than happy after this draw given the weak competition. The team’s decision to keep its superstar captain Cesc Fabregas sets them up for the tournament even better. After Arsenal, Shakhtar Donetsk has an advantage for the second spot, as they have more European experience and can rely on their notorious home field advantage. Braga, who shocked the European soccer world by eliminating Sevilla in the qualification round, is most likely to take the third spot over the young and inexperienced Partizan squad.

FIBA World Basketball Championship
I know Americans don't care about it as much as the rest of the world does, especially Turkey since we are the host country, World Basketball Championship is still a big deal. Team USA not winning since 1994 and now competing with a B-Team, NBA superstars like Pau Gasol, Nowitzki, Tony Parker and Ginobili sitting out make the competition less attractive and popular, but there is still a really high quality basketball playing in the tournament to say the least. We saw some incredible second round games so far, a surprising and unlucky Greece-Spain matchup in the second round caused my favorites Greece to get eliminated early in the campaign.
Team USA is looking great, having won all six games so far in double digits. Turkey is also looking amazing, destroying France in the second round. A Turkey-USA final would be really fun and exciting to watch, and I think we can make it that far too. We play so well, we work hard, hustle and play good basketball. My only concern is our coach Bogdan Tanjevic and his lack of any understanding of rotation in a basketball team. I'm afraid Ersan Ilyasova and Hedo Turkoglu are going to wear out further into the tournament because of this. And now we have a really hard path to the finals, Slovenia and Spain who are I'm afraid to say it but better basketball teams then we are. But with our home court advantage and the momentum we have now, we are the favorites for both matchups.
Although it hasn't been a flashy tournament with the lack of stars playing in it, it still has been really exciting, especially for us Turks and I hope it ends well too.

Saybia
I don't know remember who told me about or where I read about them but I'm so happy I discovered an amazing band like Saybia. They are a Danish band formed in 1993, so I'm surprised I haven't discovered a band of this quality until last week. I have been listening to them constantly for the past week. They have great sad songs as well as amazing love songs. Just give them a try and listen to songs like Angel, The Day After Tomorrow, The Second You Sleep, Untitled, and my personal favorite I Surrender. Now I'm going to leave you with I Surrender from Saybia.

IAMX- This Will Make You Love Again
Such a sad, depressing song. "If I wanna switch the lights off, I wanna switch them off with you"...
Tegan and Sara- Nineteen
I love Tegan and Sara. They are so energetic and they're so much fun to listen to. Nineteen is one of my favorite songs from them. Just start with Nineteen, and go on listening to all of their songs, you will love them.
Sia- Breathe Me
Just listen to this song with its video clip, it's one of the best song videos I have seen. Sia just does a great job in this song.
Cibelle- Green Grass
It's actually a cover of a Tom Waits songs, but lately I've been on my woman vocal shit, so I prefer to listen to it by Cibelle. It's really sad, emotional and romantic; just the way I like my songs.
Youth Group- Start Today Tomorrow
Youth Group is not a very well known band, they are from Australia, and I like their style and energy. They are really underrated and deserve to be more popular. Start Today Tomorrow is a great song to start with to get to know Youth Group.

Bundesliga and La Liga Preview
Starting this semester, I'm going to be writing a sports column in Georgetown's newspaper, The Hoya, with my favorite African man Mike Appau. So, we have written samples to get the position as the sports columnist. And we have decided to write previews for the major European leagues. This is my part of the column, and I wanted to post it here as well. They are very brief previews, but I had to make it as simple as possible because obviously there will be readers who are not as into soccer as I am. So, it's more like an introduction of soccer in Germany and Spain for the Georgetown students.
Bundesliga Preview by Cem Yolbulan
After having a great season last year both in domestic and European competition, Bayern Munich are the big favorites for the 2010-2011 season in German soccer. The skeleton of the team also had an amazing World Cup run over the summer and players like Arjen Robben, Miroslav Klose, Thomas Muller, Philip Lahm and Bastian Schweinsteiger are starting the season with a big confidence boost. They will be the team to beat in Germany and I don’t see any other team being a competition for them for the title. I also expect them to make a deep run in the European Champions League like last year. They just have a really strong and deep roster, the fact that Miroslav Klose does not start for them should demonstrate how strong they are.
Although I can’t see any other team having a shot at the title, there will be a lot of teams to compete for the European competition spots. We did not really see any expensive moves from Bundesliga teams this summer, but there were some moves who will have a big impact on the league like Michael Ballack returning to Leverkusen, Raul signing for Schalke 04, Steve McClaren coaching Wolfsburg. I expect all these teams along with Hamburg, Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund making a run for the top three spots. If you are wondering where Werder Bremen is on this list, with the future of rising star Mesut Ozil unclear, I don’t see them having a real shot at top spots.
Keep an Eye on:
Borussia Dortmund: They don’t have flashy players, or expensive signings for the new season, but they have been playing together for a long time now, and they are on a steady rise with the young coach Jurgen Klopp. He is dubbed Mourinho of Westfalen, and he has deserved that nickname with the attractive playing style and the fifth spot in the league last season. They are one of the teams to watch.
Robert Lewandowski: He is Dortmund’s new signing from Poland. He is a 22-year old striker who was the consecutive top goal scorer in the Polish League last two seasons.
Marko Arnautovic: Werder Bremen’s new 21-year old Austrian striker who had a short fling due to injuries last season with Inter Milan. He is a promising talented scorer who could be Werder Bremen’s new star after Mesut Ozil.
Steve McClaren: Wolfsburg’s new British coach, who lead Twente of Holland to their first ever championship last year who also previously had a fling with the England national team. One of my favorite coaches could bring back the energy and dynamism Wolfsburg lacked last year after their hard-fought championship on 2008-2009 season.
Raúl: The legendary Spanish striker who left Real Madrid where he played for 17 years and became the top scorer both for los Galacticos and the Spanish National Team to sign for Schalke 04, will be very interesting to watch with a jersey other than a Real Madrid one.
La Liga Preview by Cem Yolbulan
The recent years have left Barcelona and Real Madrid alone by themselves on top of the Spanish soccer. It’s not really possible to see any other clubs competing with Barca or Real Madrid in Spain, including teams like Valencia, Sevilla or Atletico Madrid who historically have challenged these two giants.
This year, I expect an even more polarized league in Spain; as Real Madrid-Barcelona and the others. Jose Mourinho is taking his label as the “best coach in the game today” to Madrid. Although I agree with that label as well, I believe Barca just has too much depth and quality compared to Real Madrid. And especially with the addition of David Villa, I think they found the perfect piece for their system. Although both Eto’o and Ibrahimovic scored tons of goals for the Catalan side, neither of them were the right strikers. Barcelona needed a good finisher who is also fast, good dribbler, with good footwork and passing abilities, and Villa possesses all these qualities. Their only problem is in the goalkeeper area, but that should not be a problem with the best defense duo in the world; Puyol and Pique. I predict Real Madrid to be close second after Barcelona, because although Mourinho has the mental and tactical edge over Barca’s coach Guardiola and I expect Real Madrid to do well in the games against Barcelona, but if you just look at each the overall team quality, Barcelona is just superior than Real Madrid, especially in the midfield area. And that Xavi-Iniesta duo in the midfield, will once again will be the dominating element for Barcelona, La Liga and the Champions League in general.

Haftalik Futbol Notlari
- Trabzonspor'a acayip sempati duymaya basladim.
- Galatasaray'da Rijkaard'i suclu goren, bok atan adam, futboldan anlamiyordur.

- Trabzonspor'a acayip sempati duymaya basladim.
- Galatasaray'da Rijkaard'i suclu goren, bok atan adam, futboldan anlamiyordur.
Onda o oyun zekasi, o yetenek fazlasiyla mevcut.
Playlist of the Week
From now on, I am going to post the weekly playlists here, both to keep them in the blog archive and I also want to write some things about the bands/songs etc. So, this is the new playlist for this week:
Reamonn- Sometimes
This has been the song of the week for me. I've been listening to it over and over. Although I only know a couple of songs of Reamonn, with works like Tonight, Supergirl and now Sometimes, they have three songs that are special for me.
Morrissey- Let Me Kiss You
I love this song. When lyrical genius is combined with Morrissey's amazing voice, the result is a great sad, emotional masterpiece like Let Me Kiss You.
Simon & Garfunkel- The Sound of Silence
I think it's only Paul Simon's song, but it doesn't matter. It just never gets old, I have been listening to it for years, and I still feel the same way as I did the first time I listened to it, I can't get enough of this song, I don't want it to ever end. Lyrical brilliance...
Bob Dylan- Sara
"Loving you is the one thing I'll never regret", "so easy to look at, so hard to define". One of the best love songs ever. It's so sincere and sad, you can hear how Bob feels in his voice, and there is no need to explain Bob Dylan's songwriting skills and his lyrical genius.
The Devil Makes Three- Graveyard
I want to have at least one song from an unknown/ not popular bands to introduce them to you and see if you like them as much as I do. The Devil Makes Three is one of those bands, I recently discovered them and really like their style. They are very versatile and old-school, just give them a try and Graveyard is a great song to start with.
This is it for this week, I hope you like my music taste, and enjoy the playlist.

Spotlight
I have decided to maintain the balance between the Turkish and English posts so that we keep our bilingual label fair and square. Also, I am on the verge of giving up arguing with my brother on any matter. Therefore, I am creating this -hopefully-weekly post named "spotlight" to succesfully avoid arguing with him. I will try to convey how I feel about the current [global] events in these posts.
Ground Zero Mosque - I like how Obama supported the idea but I don't know how I would have reacted if I were born in the United States and/or experienced 9/11 in NYC. By the way this wouldn't be a discussion in Turkey, it would be political suicide (I hate fucking populism in politics). Not building the mosque would be against everything that the United States stands for. There is no law against building a mosque on the same block as ground zero. period. Anything else about the matter is motivated by emotion -completely justifiable-. Final decision: build it!
Blagojevich's trial - Today he was found guilty on one count of lying to federal authorities. 22 other counts were dismissed because of a mistrial. Most charges the jurors couldn't agree on but I've read that on some charges the vote was 11 to 1. Ok seriously who the fuck is this one man?? The general opinion in mainstream American media is that Blagojevich's approach in the trial (claiming innocence and not calling any witnesses) helped him gain the support of that one juror leading to the mistrial on numerous charges. Now the prosecutors are looking for retrying him. The Democrats are sick of the negative effect this is having over their November ambitions -understandbly- and so am I. (BTW get a fucking hair cut man, seriously) Final decision: don't retry him before November.
Wyclef Jean's candidacy - I have only one thing to say about this opportunistic, pathetic man: NO!
Proposition 8 - Justice Walker recently overturned the proposition that defines marriage between a man and a woman, banning same-sex marriage in California. Now, until the Court of Appeals review Justice Walker's decision, all same sex marriages are put on hold (only the gay community is immediately hurt by this legal process) I have intense mixed feelings about this entire situation. Personally, I feel uncomfortable with the idea of changing the definition of sacred institution of marriage, but a big part of me feels that there is nothing more sacred than 2 people honoring their love by getting married. Above this all is democracy. If the 7 million people of California vote to ban same-sex marriage, no judge should oppose it. What happened to "by the people, for the people"? The concept of democracy can't allow for ideology driven decisions of the courts to dominate the system. Final decision: shut it down..
McGrady joining the Pistons - What did you do brah? Even Shaq swallowed his ego and accepted the Celtics' offer. A player of your position (age and injury wise) has to understand that you can only compete in a championship team if you accept your bench role. Do you think Shaq is peachy that he will be benched under Jermaine O'Neal and Cedric Perkins? NO. But now he might catch up to Kobe (# of rings) or has that shot. McGrady traded his last shot at glory for the chance to make the most money and have the most shots. I thought he was better than that. I guess not. Final decision: Shaq will be happier than Tracy McGrady.
For now, this is it in the Spotlight.

Time to Go
As the time to go back to US approaches, I feel like I wanna go back more. The past couple of days, I have been bored. (hard to believe but yes one can get bored in Istanbul too) So, I'm trying to get pumped up for the new year at Georgetown, I'm kinda excited to see everyone again, and I actually wanna do something useful with my life after three months of having fun.
17 Agustos 1999. Unutma!
Hic ders almiyoruz...

Dumanli Kentin Puslu Cocuklari
Super Lig'deki ilk Karabukspor macimiza gittik, 2-1 kazanip geldik. Oncelikle sunu belirteyim, takimi bekledigimden iyi buldum.
Tomic
(Bulent Ataman)
Kerim Zengin-Mehmet Cogum-Deumi-Seric
(Engin Akturk-Bulent Bal-Muhammet-Alioui)
Senol Akin- Birol - Tozo - Fatih Ceylan
(Yasin Avci-Hakan Ozmert-Hakan Soyler-Ferdi Elmas)
Cernat
Emenike
(Angelov-Ilhan Parlak)
Yani Fenerbahce'nin senelerdir forvetlerinin yapamadigi herseyi yapiyor.
